The 3-way SabrinaX (from £21,498) is an update to the Sabrina floorstander which the company launched in 2015. The original Sabrina was a 3-way floorstander and, while sporting a smaller footprint than other Wilson Audio models, was certainly not lacking in sound output.

David Wilson and his team used sophisticated computer modelling and listening techniques, combining them with Wilson Audio's philosophy of creating “works of art”, to develop the Sabrina. This process was said to have taken more than three years. With now more than eight years under their belt, SabrinaX is said to benefit from new technologies and further development by Wilson Audio's design team.

High-frequencies are handled by a Convergent Synergy Mk5 tweeter developed for Wilson’s flagship WAMM Master Chronosonic and Chronosonic XVX loudspeakers while the midband is presented by a 15cm driver. Finally, bringing the low frequencies is the same 20cm bass driver developed for the revered Sasha DAW loudspeaker. The result is a claimed 31 Hz – 23kHz: +/- 3 dB: Room Average Response. Sensitivity is quoted at 87 dB @ 1W @ 1m @ 1kHz.

The SabrinaX utilises a rear port, something they say is a critical element, that is machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminium. “Over the years, we've refined our port shapes for better performance. For the SabrinaX, a new geometry effectively reduces already low port noise.”

Also, the new SabrinaX utilises the same Wilson designed and manufactured binding post as the XVX. “It is easier to tighten by hand, and also features a banana plug option. This unique Wilson Audio connector resets the bar for reliability and sonic integrity for high-current connections.”

Furthermore, SabrinaX also introduces a proprietary multi-wound capacitor that was first designed specifically for the XVX, which the engineers dubbed AudioCapX-WA. SabrinaX is said to benefit from a version of the Wilson AudioCapX explicitly designed for its crossover, hand-assembled in its Provo, Utah factory. Wilson Audio added, “the new capacitor technology significantly lowers the noise floor to even greater extremes, allowing the listener to hear more detail and resolution.”

Wilson says that the SabrinaX also uses the same spike/diode assembly found in the Chronosonic XVX, “which increases the mechanical impedance path and improves vibration “draining.” The larger diode also enhances the physical presence and beauty of the design.”

UK RRP is £21,498 per pair in three standard colour options – Carbon, Galaxy Grey and Quartz. Three upgrade WilsonGloss colours are also available – Crimson, Ivory and Diamond Black – at £22,998 per pair. All prices inc. VAT.
