TEAC Announces AP-507 Power Amplifier with Next-Gen NCOREx Tech

TEAC has unveiled its latest power amplifier, the AP-507, a compact yet high-performance unit designed to seamlessly integrate into both home and professional setups.
Headlining its feature set is TEAC’s custom-tuned NCOREx power amplifier module—an evolution of the highly regarded NCORE platform, now optimised for even lower distortion, greater efficiency, and enhanced sonic fidelity.
The AP-507 is part of TEAC’s 500 Series lineup, aimed at delivering high-end performance in a space-efficient design. The standout feature is the NCOREx power module, engineered by Hypex and fine-tuned by TEAC’s R&D team. This next-gen Class D technology boasts improved transient response, lower noise floor, and a more refined output stage, which translates to a cleaner and more natural music presentation. At its core, the AP-507 employs TEAC’s proprietary dual-mono buffer amplifier, a fully balanced design that aims to maintain signal integrity across all stages. According to TEAC, the result is ultra-linear performance with minimal distortion, ensuring an accurate and detailed listening experience.
Despite its compact form, the AP-507 doesn’t hold back in terms of power delivery. It offers 170W per channel at 4Ω and up to 350W in bridged BTL mode at 8Ω, making it a viable choice for driving demanding speakers or serving as part of a bi-amp configuration. Whether deployed in a two-channel hi-fi system or as part of a home theatre setup, the AP-507’s multiple operating modes provide flexibility for various applications.
TEAC has paid close attention to mechanical integrity, incorporating a 2.8mm thick semi-floating aluminum top plate and a three-point Stress-Less Isolation Foot system to combat vibrations. The rigid chassis design aims to minimise unwanted resonance, contributing to a more open and natural soundstage. On the power supply side, the AP-507 is equipped with a high-capacity toroidal transformer and 18,800μF capacitors per channel, ensuring stable current delivery and dynamic headroom.
Unlike many high-power amplifiers that rely on active cooling, TEAC has designed the AP-507 with a fanless architecture, keeping operational noise to an absolute minimum. This makes it an appealing option for nearfield setups or quiet listening environments where background noise is a concern.
For seamless integration into existing systems, the AP-507 features both XLR and RCA inputs, accommodating a wide range of preamps and source components. It also includes trigger in/through ports for synchronised power control in multi-component setups. With its NCOREx-enhanced performance, compact footprint, and audiophile-focused design, the AP-507 looks to be a compelling choice for those seeking high-end Class D amplification in a refined package. Stay tuned for a future StereoNET’s review where we'll put the AP-507 through it's paces.
The TEAC AP-507 will be available from late March 2025, with pricing to be set at $2,199 /€1,899 EUR/£1,899.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
