NAD CI 16-60 DSP 16-Channel Rack-Mounted Amp Launched
NAD has launched the CI 16-60 DSP multi-channel amplifier for distributed audio.
The NAD Electronics CI 16-60 DSP amplifier boasts 60 watts for each of its 16 channels at 8 ohms. Furthermore, each pair of channels is bridgeable to 140 watts per channel if more power is needed with the hybrid digital amplifier platform delivering stable and efficient power with high current capability.
The 2U rack space CI 16-60 DSP uses a customised version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage. We're told that this delivers great load invariant power with extremely low distortion and noise in the audible range. As this unit has been designed to deal with the custom installation world's demands, the CI 16-60 can effortlessly handle long cable runs and difficult speaker loads.
NAD Electronic's CI 16-60 DSP is an IP-controlled amplifier so the installer can configure and calibrate it via a web-based user interface. Here they can access multi-channel digital signal processing (DSP) and precise equalisation control. A virtual patch bay permits any input to be routed to any, or multiple, outputs without creating physical connections.
Additionally, the UI offers insight into temperature and power status, along with essential troubleshooting functions like power cycling, factory resetting and updating.
Finally, the CI 16-60 also sports loop through jacks on all the inputs, making it easy to daisy chain sources to multiple amplifiers for larger installations.
The NAD CI 16-60 will be available from mid-February. The US MSRP is $2,499 as we are awaiting confirmed UK pricing.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
