Lumin T3 Network Player Announced
Lumin's T3 combines an all-new new processing system, solid aluminium construction and X1 technology.
The Lumin T3 boasts completely new processing hardware and software that promises improved features and increased resampling flexibility while retaining all the musicality noted in our T2 review.
Among the key hardware features carried over from the T2 are the Dual ES9028Pro SABRE DACs featuring dual-mono operation with support for upsampling and downsampling to any frequency from DSD256 and PCM 384kHz. You also get Leedh Processing lossless volume control with a new digital volume adjustment algorithm that Lumin says eliminates rounding errors. Additionally, Lumin states that dual-mono circuitry runs throughout the T3's design.
Meanwhile, the new model sports a surfacing process for its thick CNC'd aluminium casement that is less susceptible to finger marks and easier to clean, taken from the brand's high-end P1. The T3 also matches the P1's finish options of anodised silver or black.
The analogue outputs feature technology from Lumin’s flagship X1 streamer, said to deliver ultra-low-noise and high dynamic range to the unbalanced RCA (voltage 3Vrms) and balanced XLR (voltage 6Vrms). Meanwhile, the BNC SPDIF (PCM 44.1kHz–192kHz and 16–24-bit DSD (DoP, DSD over PCM) 2.8MHz, 1-bit) and USB port (native DSD512 support, PCM 44.1–384kHz, 16–32-bit, stereo) rounds off the digital outs.
An RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet socket connects the Lumin T3 to your local network, while the USB port also enables storage to be physically connected to the player.
The Lumin T3 uses the UPnP AV protocol with an extension for audio streaming (OpenHome). In addition, the T3 is a RoonReady device that supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Quobuz, FLAC Lossless Radio, TuneIn Radio, Apple AirPlay and multiroom (SongCast), with support for MQA.
The Lumin control app is available for iOS and Android with built-in search and extensive support for tags and playlists. You can also adjust the volume via the application.
The Lumin T3 is available from September, priced at £4,195 inc VAT.
