Klipsch Heresy IV and Cornwall IV Now Available
Klipsch has added the Heresy IV and Cornwall IV to its Heritage range, and they have now landed in the UK.
The handcrafted in USA Klipsch Heritage speakers are based on designs initially drawn by company founder Paul W. Klipsch.
Klipsch Heresy IV
The Heresy IV (£3,500.00 SRP) is an entirely re-voiced and re-worked latest generation design of this iconic speaker that follows a heritage back to 1957 when the Heresy three-way loudspeaker started as a compact centre channel to accompany the Klipschorn.
The Klipsch Heresy IV sports a K-107-TI titanium diaphragm high-frequency driver, with an all-new wide-dispersion phase plug, partnered with a new K-702 midrange compression driver that features a polyimide diaphragm, mated to a K-704 Tractrix horn. The low-end is taken care of by a 12-inch K-28-E woofer.
Under the hood, there's an all-new high-fidelity cross-over network based on the Klipschorn's three-way steep-slope design. Internal cabling is by Audioquest for maximum fidelity and performance, we are told.
A first for a Heresy speaker, however, is that it also features a rear port to improve low-frequency extension by almost 10Hz against the previous version, according to Klipsch giving it a claimed frequency response of (± 4dB): 48Hz - 20kHz.
Each pair of loudspeakers is wrapped in a book-matched wood veneer finish, handcrafted in Hope, Arkansas. The result is that the latest Heresy speaker has a taller and narrower profile (630.1 x 393.7 x 336.6mm), compared to its predecessor, and features an updated grille and subtle, removable, matte black slant-riser base.

Klipsch Cornwall IV
Introduced as a more substantial, full-range alternative to the Heresy back in 1959, the Cornwall was so-named because you could conveniently position it either in a corner or against a wall.
The Cornwall is a three-way design with horn-loaded compression drivers for the midrange and treble, alongside a direct-radiating 15-inch woofer for the low frequencies and has the honour of being the "largest of the compact" Heritage speakers.
The Klipsch Cornwall IV features a new mid-frequency driver and a new large-format midrange horn with 'mumps technology' for better response throughout the frequency band, says the American speaker maker. Additionally, there is Klipsch's popular K-107-TI 1-inch tweeter and K-33-E 15-inch fibre-composite cone woofer for deep bass. These drivers are married together with a newly voiced cross-over network, featuring high-quality Audioquest cabling throughout. The Cornwall IV has a stated frequency response of (± 4dB): 34Hz - 20kHz.
The Cornwall IV retains the front-port design of its predecessor, but the system now features Klipsch's Tractrix port technology.
Finally, the Cornwall IV features a new logo design grille to match other Heritage products, and a matte black riser to give a floating appearance. Finished in one of three elegant book-matched wood veneers, each Cornwall IV cabinet is still made in the company's factory in Hope, Arkansas.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
