Pure's DiscovR not only boasts enhanced privacy but adds an innovative Music Discovery function, too.

The new portable Alexa-enabled smart speaker is packed with a host of unique features.

Offering fully immersive 360° sound pushing out 45W RMS through the 3-inch woofer and pair of 1¼-inch tweeters, DiscovR will last for 15-hours of playing time on a single charge meaning you can take your music, and enjoy a room-filling audio performance, anywhere. When it comes to recharging, this is done through USB-C quick charge.

Also, bring portable it needs to be durable. Thankfully, the DiscovR is wrapped in an aluminium enclosure with a non-slip polymer base. It weighs just 0.97Kg and measures 140 x 110 x 110mm (HxWxD) when open. Closed, the height drops to 105mm.                                                                                                                                             

Privacy

While voice-control is pretty cool, there are times when you don't want to be heard. 

Well, thanks to its innovative custom engineering, DiscovR is the only smart speaker on the market that offers a unique, compressing X-SPAN design.

When closed, this physically disconnects the microphones for enhanced privacy. Quite literally, a mic drop.

Listening to the radio is one of the most common uses for a smart speaker. However, how many times have you heard a new track, vowed to remember what it was and who it was by only to forget it 5 minutes later?

The aptly named DiscovR has a unique skill accessed by the equally well-named Music Discovery button.

The special button lets you identify and add any song you hear on the radio to a Spotify playlist for listening back later.

Quick Corners

Alexa will answer questions, play music, read the news, set timers and alarms, check sports scores, control your smart home and much more.

However, using voice commands isn't always possible - your partner is sleeping, for instance - but DiscovR comes with intuitive Quick Corners. 

You can preset Alexa commands, radio stations or playlists to the corners to be accessed instantly at the touch of a button.

There's also a button to mute the microphone, touch controls for volume and track skipping. Additionally, source selection is shown by its corresponding colour.

Connectivity

You can listen to your tunes, the radio and podcasts via Alexa, Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and aux-in. 

You can also connect to compatible speakers, including other DiscovR speakers, for a versatile multiroom experience. 

Pure Home App

Naturally, your DiscovR is joined by the intuitive Pure Home app. Use the app to connect your DiscovR to a wireless network, Spotify and Alexa.

Furthermore, it can also be used customise your speaker settings and access product support, plus you'll be notified of any new software updates.

Pure StreamR

The StreamR is a DAB+ radio that grabs its Alexa smarts when connected to a phone.

You still get the nifty X-SPAN design and a cool 'now playing' display, though. Additionally, the corners can be set to four preset stations.

As well as the AUX-in cable, you can send music to the speaker via Bluetooth.
