McIntosh’s 500-watt MI502 Digital Amplifier Joins Ci-Fi Line

The new McIntosh MI502 2-Channel Digital Amplifier offers 500 watts of Class D power to your home cinema or installed audio.

McIntosh's MI502 two-channel digital amplifier is a highly versatile Class D power amp that offers 500 watts into 8 ohms or 800 watts into 4 ohms. We are told that the amplifier uses innovative closed-loop digital switching technology with resilient power supplies to produce this level of performance alongside McIntosh's sound quality.

The MI502 can be configured to power the front left and right speakers in a home cinema system or drive two in-wall subwoofers. A pair of amps could drive the three front channels of a home cinema plus one subwoofer or even power a couple of outdoor speakers.

Naturally, you could also use multiple MI502s to power a distributed home audio system as it is rack-mountable with a 2U height and doesn't need noisy cooling fans to maintain nominal operating temperature, despite its powerful 500-watt output, thanks to its Class D design. McIntosh's Power Control 12-volt triggering capabilities are also onboard.

The MI502's rear panel features a pair of balanced and unbalanced inputs to connect to preamplifiers, and a pair of McIntosh's standard five-way speaker binding posts are also included.

Meanwhile, up front, you get the iconic McIntosh styling, including two blue Watt Meters that display the power output of each channel, while multi-colour LED indicators show the status of each channel. Additionally, there's a black-glass front panel, an illuminated McIntosh logo, and a familiar silver-trimmed form factor.
