Both the KC92 and Kube series benefit from KEF's proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm and the Music Integrity Engine (MIE) and promise that listeners will enjoy “remarkable integrity, detail, and accuracy of sound” as well as being able to “feel the action and amplify the emotions with unparalleled precision and in-depth sound”.

The KC92 is loaded with twin 9-inch drivers in a force-cancelling array, each powered by a 500W Class D amp, and is a beefier upgrade to the dual 6.5-inch drivers of the KC62 for those looking to plumb down to 11Hz. Meanwhile, the Kube subwoofer line offers 8-, 10-, 12-, and 15-inch driver versions, pushed along by 300W of Class D amplification.

KEF KC92 TECH

Alongside MIE, the KC92 features Intelligent Bass Extension (iBX), which KEF tells us creates an “extended depth that unlocks the full potential of the custom driver” as it analyses the input signal, enabling the subwoofer to play louder and remain dynamic at any listening level.

Additionally, the KC92 sports a patent-pending P-Flex Surround, apparently inspired by the Japanese art of origami, that resists sonic pressure without sacrificing sensitivity. The pleated construction is said to be similar to origami folds and defies internal air pressure, enabling the driver to move precisely in response to the aural signal.

The force-cancelling layout of the KC92's two drivers is back-to-back, ensuring reactive forces are eliminated and reducing cabinet vibration.

Meanwhile, a shallow, concave aluminium skin sits above a paper cone in the drivers' hybrid structure, alongside a vented voice coil and an enlarged motor system. We're told to expect “optimised excursion characteristics” with “vanishingly low distortion”.

KEF SmartConnect automatically optimises gain based on whether a mono or stereo input is in use, ensuring optimal performance. Meanwhile, the line output with High Pass Filter (HPF) on the KC92 allows for exceptional fine-tuned integration. Finally, five-room placement setting options (Room, Wall, Corner, Cabinet and Apartment) enable the KC92 to integrate effortlessly into any environment.

KEF KUBE MIE SUBWOOFERS

The Kube range features a sealed cabinet design with a front-firing long throw diver, which makes for a simple set-up and a “tactile, compressed, and potent bass experience”.

Thanks to the Music Integrity Engine, Kube has a placement-dependent EQ component that can be easily adjusted to maximise in-room performance. The three-room placement settings guarantee reliable performance, whether up against a wall, in a corner, or inside a cabinet.

The line level and speaker level inputs mean that the Kube can connect to any amplifier. Additionally, KEF SmartConnect optimises the gain for best performance by sensing whether a mono or stereo input is being utilised automatically.

Furthermore, Kube can be easily integrated wirelessly using the optional KW1 wireless subwoofer adaptor.

Optimally designed for the driver and the available acoustic volume, the Class D RMS amplifier in the Kube runs efficiently and cool, providing ample power for the subwoofer.

The KEF KC92 Force-cancelling Subwoofer and Kube Subwoofers will be available from 27th February, with myKEF members getting early access.
