Goldmund Pulp + Hub Hi-Res Wireless Speaker System

Goldmund's new Pulp + Hub speaker system features the latest iteration of the compact active stereo speakers and new hi-res Hub.

Goldmund's Pulp desktop speakers have been updated. Launched initially at High End Munich 2022 but somewhat overshadowed by the larger-than-life Gaia, they are now joined by Hub alongside enhanced performance and usability to the Cécile Barani design.

Hub offers WiSA (wireless speaker and audio) tech, enabling wireless streams up to 24-bit/96kHz. Additionally, you get aptX HD Bluetooth support alongside cabled options, including HDMI, coaxial and optical inputs.

The puck-like Hub might look a little lacking stylistically; however, this is more than made up for by the attractive aluminium cylindrical coolness of the speakers, which retains the iconic design by Cécile Barani. This, of course, includes the elegant touch of twisting a dial atop the speakers to effortlessly rotate the textile grille away to reveal the drivers. Consider this the soft-closing doors of speaker covers.

Although just  48x23x23cm (HxWxD), they each house a vent-loaded 5-inch woofer and soft dome tweeter pushed along by a pair of 175W Telos amplifiers. We are told this translates into a frequency response from 43Hz (-6dB) to over 25kHz.

Interestingly, as well as 2-channel PCM decoding, the spec sheet also lists PCM multi-channel, Dolby Atmos and TrueHD, and DTS:X. Could more of these be set up for a multi-channel array? Until we hear otherwise, we assume that multi-channel streams will be output as stereo.

The Pulp speakers are available in silver grey or matte black and are designed to sit on a desk or sideboard. However, they look even more special sat upon their custom Goldmund 127cm tall stands (sold separately).

Goldmund's Pulp + Hub system is available now and costs £15,500, with the optional stands priced at £3,250.
