Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 Earbuds Released

Melomania M100 brings the Cambridge Audio wireless earbuds range up to date with aptX Lossless support and Active Noise Cancelling.

Cambridge Audio's Melomania M100 builds on the Melomania 1+ and promises to deliver jaw-dropping sound from meticulously tuned premium 10mm drivers and “hi-fi-grade” Class AB amplification.

Cambridge's London-based engineering wizards have also squeezed in an impressive 10-hour battery life (or 16 hours with noise-cancelling turned off) on a single charge. Additionally, more than two full charges are available from the carrying case for 52 hours of battery life. Finally, a 10-minute fast charge translates to 2 hours of ANC-enabled playback.

Moreover, Cambridge Audio has taken onboard customer feedback from other models to enhance the user experience for M100. This has included bringing Bluetooth connectivity up to date and beyond with the latest features.

James Johnson-Flint, owner of Cambridge Audio, told StereoNET:

By adopting cutting-edge tech like apX Lossless, Melomania M100 were crafted to be our best true wireless earphones so far, to take on all comers and show what real audio expertise can deliver.

A custom 10mm premium driver with neodymium magnets has been matched with Class AB amplification, as used on Cambridge's highly acclaimed CX Series hi-fi amplifiers. The company states the results are deep, controlled bass, realistic vocals, and beautiful treble clarity.

The M100 packs Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sound with aptX Lossless wireless technology alongside Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which uses a hybrid combination of Feedback and Feed-Forward technology, external microphones for monitoring outside ambient noise, and microphones inside the ear canal.

Within the all-new Melomania Connect control app, audio can be personalised to your taste via a seven-band EQ, while six presets are tailored to multiple music genres.

Comfort should be guaranteed as the M100 has apparently been designed using data from thousands of pairs of ears. Also, the buds are supplied with three sizes of silicone tips and two sizes of memory foam tips.

Further enhancements include Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, with a physical button on the charging case to put the earphones into Bluetooth pairing mode with a single press. We are also told that the touch controls have been refined to be more responsive and intuitive. Bluetooth 5.3 is onboard with LE Audio and has futureproofing potential to offer further future benefits, such as support for AuraCast Broadcast Audio and the high-quality, battery-saving LC3 audio codec.

Gamers and video watchers will like the fact that the M100 supports Gaming Mode, ensuring “near-perfect screen/sound sync” while playing the latest games. It can also correct syncing issues with certain video content. Latency has been reduced to an astoundingly low 80ms.

CA has also introduced recycled Neodymium for the driver magnets and 50% PCR plastic for the casings. The M100 is also shipped in plastic-free packaging as per Cambridge Audio's support as a Founding Donor of the eco-music charity EarthPercent, co-founded by the iconic Brian Eno.

Oh, you also get high-quality voice prompts across 8 languages, with a few surprises in store, one of which is a brilliant addition by a previous Made by Music Podcast guest.

HELP US HELP BANDS

As a bonus and in a charity product partnership with Tim Burgess of the legendary Manchester band, The Charlatans, a limited edition of 300 Melomania M100 How High Edition earphones will be sold, with 10% of each sale donated to the Help Us Help Bands project.
